The correct use: wood stain

You can find out how to process wood stain, what you have to pay attention to and what you need on this page.

You need:

  • Wood stain
  • Paint roller, Brush or airless spray gun
  • fine sandpaper
  • possibly. Painter's tape and masking paper to mask the area not to be coated
  • If necessary, a dilution (this can also be used afterwards to clean the device)

Preparation

  • The consumption of the wood stain is on average around 10-15 m²/l. However, this information may vary if you use thinner or apply thicker layers.
  • The processing and especially the drying of the wood stain should not take place below 10°C. This information refers to the paint material, substrate and ambient temperature during processing and the subsequent drying and curing time.
  • If necessary, mask the areas that are not to be coated with painter's tape.
  • Sand the surface with fine sandpaper before use.
  • Remove all sources of dust from the area. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of grease, silicone and wax.
  • Stir the wood stain well before using it.

Processing

  1. If you want to thin the wood glaze , add approx. 5-10% thinner and mix it well with the glaze.
  2. Use a paint roller, brush or cup gun with a 1.6mm nozzle to apply the wood stain . Depending on the size and shape of the object to be processed, decide which tool is most suitable.
  3. 1 to 2 coats are recommended to build up a sufficient protective layer. Make sure the first coat is completely dry before applying the second. The wood glaze is bone dry after about 6 hours, but the exact drying time depends on the humidity, room temperature and the thickness of the paint applied. Allow the glaze to dry sufficiently before using the processed wood again or painting over it.
  4. After about 10 hours, you can easily varnish the processed wood for additional protection and an aesthetic finish. The wood stain reaches its final hardness after about 5-7 days.
