The correct use: concrete paint

You can find out here how to use concrete paint correctly, what you have to pay attention to and what you need.

You need:

  • Concrete color
  • possibly. Painter's tape and masking paper to mask the area not to be coated
  • Paint roller or brush (we recommend our Premium painting set X300)
  • If necessary, a dilution (this can also be used afterwards to clean the device)

Preparation

  • The consumption of concrete paint is on average around 8 square meters/l. However, this information may vary if you use thinner or apply thicker layers.
  • Processing and especially drying should not take place below 10°C. Temperatures between 15°C and 25°C are ideal. Humidity should not be more than 65%. This information relates to the paint material, substrate and ambient temperature during processing and the subsequent drying and curing time of up to five days.
  • Make sure that the surface is dry and free of dust and grease. If necessary, remove old paint. Mineral substrates must be dry, set and clean. When repainting, you must also thoroughly clean the old coating of algae, dirt and deposits. Remove unstable surfaces.
  • Use painter's tape and masking paper to mask the areas that should not be coated.
  • If desired, dilute the concrete paint with approx. 5-10% thinner 227. Stir the paint well before use.

Important: Do not use soapy cleaners or scouring milk. These are made from fatty acids and are therefore not suitable for dissolving fat.

Processing

  1. Spray, roll or brush the paint. One or two coats are recommended for best results. The coating must be carried out in dry weather, avoiding direct sunlight and a surface that is too cold.
  2. Drying occurs after 4-6 hours. The concrete color can then be painted over. After 12 rain-free days the paint has completely hardened.
